Cookies

Last updated 16 October 2026.

This site sets no cookies at all unless you press “Agree” in the cookie banner. Counting visits does not need them: we send one small message to our own server for each page view, with no cookie, no identifier and no IP address stored. The privacy notice explains what that message contains.

Stored on your device whatever you choose

NameTypeWhat it doesHow long
ex_consentLocal storage, not a cookieRemembers whether you agreed to the Google cookies, so we do not ask again on every page.Until you clear your browser storage

This one is strictly necessary โ€” without it we could not honour your choice โ€” so it is kept whichever button you press.

Set only after you press “Agree”

These come from Google. Nothing is requested from Google's servers until you agree, and Google Consent Mode is set to “denied” before any other script runs.

_gaGoogle AnalyticsTells one visitor's browser from another, so visits can be counted rather than page views.2 years
_ga_<id>Google AnalyticsKeeps the state of your session for this particular site.2 years
_gcl_auGoogle AdsRecords that you arrived from one of our adverts, so a sign-up can be attributed to it.90 days

Google may set further cookies on its own domains when it measures an advert click. Google describes those in its own cookie documentation; we do not control them, and they are not set unless you agree.

Changing your mind

Press Cookie settings at the bottom of any page to see the banner again and change your answer. Choosing “Only essential” stops the Google scripts loading from that moment; to remove cookies already set, clear cookies for this site in your browser.

One other third-party request

The page's two typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means Google can see your IP address when the page loads. No cookie is set by that request and we receive nothing from it. We are moving the fonts onto our own server to remove even that.
