Built for the job nobody prepares you for

A plan, not a pile of forms

Answer some questions about the estate and the whole job comes back as steps in the order the probate registry and HMRC expect them, with honest timeframes.

The letters written for you

Every bank, pension provider, council and utility gets the right letter with the right details. We keep a list of who has replied and who needs chasing.

One place the family can see

Invite co-executors and beneficiaries to follow progress and the figures, so you are not the only one holding all of it, and nobody has to keep asking.

How it works

This is what you see when you sign in. Everything is in plain English, it saves as you go, and you can stop and come back whenever you need to.

1Tell us about the estate
Always one next step You answer questions about the will, the family and what Margaret owned. Executr works out which route through probate applies, then shows you where you are and the single thing to do now.
2Work through the tasks
Real deadlines, honest timeframes Each task says who it is for, what it costs and when it is due. We tell you what is normal — banks usually reply within 2 weeks — and remind you before anything runs late.
3Tell everyone who needs to know
Fourteen organisations, one list Executr works out who has to be told from what you have entered, writes each letter with the right account details, and tracks every reply so nothing is quietly forgotten.
4Finish the estate properly
The figures add up as you go Each bank balance and valuation updates the estate as it is confirmed, so when it is time to share things out, the accounts for the beneficiaries are already written.

Questions

Can I pay the fee from the estate?

Usually, yes. The reasonable costs of dealing with an estate can normally be paid from the estate itself. If you pay before you can reach the estate's money, you can repay yourself from it later and record that in the accounts.

Which plan is right for me?

Guided covers the application itself: it fills in your Inheritance Tax and PA1 forms, works out what the estate owes, and checks the application before you send it. Choose Supported if you are also running the estate — writing to the banks, keeping track of money in and out, sharing the job with a co-executor, and producing the final accounts for the beneficiaries.

Can I move from Guided to Supported later?

Yes. If you start on Guided and find you need the rest of the tools, you pay the £250 difference and nothing else. Everything you have already entered stays exactly as it is.

Does the fee include the probate application fee?

No. The court charges its own fee when you apply for probate, and that is paid separately to HM Courts and Tribunals Service. We show you the current amount when you reach that step, so there is no surprise.

Do I still need a solicitor?

Not always. Many executors deal with a straightforward estate themselves. Executr gives you guidance and the tools to do it, not legal advice — and if your situation is one where a solicitor would genuinely help, such as a disputed will or a trust, we say so rather than letting you find out late.

Does it work in Scotland or Northern Ireland?

Not yet. Executr follows the probate process in England and Wales. Scotland has its own process, called confirmation, and Northern Ireland has its own probate service. We would rather say no than give you guidance that does not apply where you live.

Is Executr available now?

Not yet. We are opening to a first group of executors soon. Choosing a plan reserves your place at the price shown — you are not charged today, and we do not ask for card details.
